Led by Jan Harrison, an experienced counsellor with a lived experience of realising that everything I was learning about my neurodivergent clients seemed to apply to me too! I haven’t had a diagnosis and don’t feel the need for one – that might imply I needed fixing or could be fixed. But what has been helpful has been figuring out how it impacts my own navigation of the world around so that I can do life more fully without burning out on a regular basis. Maybe that sounds a bit like you?
A space where you will be able to engage with others in a similar position – you are not alone! This is a safe, non-judgmental place for support and encouragement, particularly for those of us with no diagnosis or a late diagnosis. The conversations will focus on the needs of those who are participating though we will have a theme each week.Â
To start things, we will be looking at reframing experiences through a neurodiversity lens:
It isn’t personal counselling, although you might also find that helpful and complements being part of the group. It isn’t judgmental, it is not designed to increase any feelings of guilt or shame that you may feel. It isn’t designed to give you all the answers or fix everything that you are finding difficult, but it may give you some fresh helpful insights.
